Meet the Family
The heart of the Amarante family tradition lies with Mary Catherine ("Gram") and Mary Grace, the creators of our beloved freselles recipe. For generations, freselles have been a must-have at family gatherings, pairing perfectly with antipasti, dinners, and our signature Meneste—escarole and white bean soup.
In 2010, Maddie Barbera joined the family and embraced these cherished recipes, starting with freselles. Inspired by Gram’s black pepper recipe, she crafted new savory flavors with Calabrian peppers, red pepper flakes and crisp sea salt. In 2022, our Original Mixed Pepper freselles launched at local farmers markets, sharing the love and creativity of the Amarante and Barbera families with the Pacific Northwest!
